30 years in NZ travel. Not reading about it. Living it. That's what makes this different.
Tēnā koe, I'm Ange.
In 1996 I covered a friend's shift on reception at a travel agency. Just helping out for a bit.
I didn't know it then, but that shift was the start of something. The next year I came back for good, this time full-time as an accounts administrator. That was the beginning of a 30-year career inside NZ travel businesses.
I worked up through agency, groups, and incentive roles before joining New Zealand's largest independent travel agents network in 2008. Over 16.5 years I moved from Broker Operations Manager through to Chief Operating Officer, overseeing the operations, systems, and people that kept the business running.
At its core, the COO role is this: take what the business is trying to do and make sure it actually happens. That means being in the detail. Understanding the commercial reality. Building systems that work. Making decisions with your eyes open.
"I don't hand people a framework and disappear. I work beside them — in the detail, in the decisions, in the direction."
When Flight Centre acquired the business, I led the people and culture through the transition. Part of that work included serving on the New Zealand leadership team for the Envoyage launch, Flight Centre Travel Group's global independent travel brand, launched globally in 2023 and brought to market in New Zealand in 2024.
Then in September 2024 I stepped away.
Not to retire. To do what I do best.
Working beside travel business owners who've built something real and can't see what's next. Helping them move from operating on instinct to operating with intention.
I've sat in the seat my clients are sitting in. Not read about it. Not consulted from a distance. Sat in it, made the decisions, lived with the consequences. That's what makes this different.
I'm not a generalist coach with a framework to sell. I don't deliver a report and disappear. I work beside you. In the detail, in the decisions, in the direction. Until the shift sticks.
If you've built something real and you're ready to see what's next, I'd love to hear from you.

I get asked this a lot, so here it is plainly.
Most travel business owners didn't start out as owners. They started as employees. Travel consultants, agents, team members. They learned the industry from the inside, got good at the job, and built a real reputation doing it.
Then at some point they backed themselves and went out on their own.
They bring everything they know as an employee with them. What they don't bring, because they've never needed it, is the experience of running the business. Of being the owner, not the employee.
So the business gets built on instinct. Good instinct, hard-won from years of doing the work. It will take you a long way. It built the whole thing.
But instinct reads what's already in front of you. It can't always show you what an owner needs to see.
You know the industry, you know the work, and you make fast calls based on experience. It's what got the business off the ground. It operates from inside.
You start looking at the business the way an operator does. Where your time goes. What the numbers are telling you. Decisions made with line of sight, not just gut feel.
The shift isn't about working harder or becoming someone you're not. It's about adding the lens you were never taught: seeing your day-to-day through the eyes of a business owner.
That's the move from instinct to intention. And it's the work I do beside you.
Most people in this space either coach you through a process or consult you from a distance. Angela does neither.
She works beside you. In the business, not above it. With the kind of experience that can only come from doing the work — not observing it.
To be clear about what you're getting into — and what you're not.
